Something on My Heart

Hey ya'll! I wanted the next you read my blog for it to have a new look, name, etc. but I have to get something off of my chest.

Ever since I put Toby and my relationship story out there, I have received emails from you amazing ladies! I so love meeting, connecting, and communicating with all of you! BUT it just breaks my heart every time I get an email that says "I am a Christian, but my boyfriend isn't and we keep sleeping together. I saw that you and Toby worked out, so do you think I should stay with my man?"

Ugh! This crushes me! Why? Because my intention for writing about our testimony was not about us, but God's amazing grace and His awesome work. It wasn't about us staying together, but about God changing our hearts and bringing us back to Him. Him letting us stay together and then getting married was just a result of our obedience.

Can I be honest with ya'll? I didn't want Toby and I to work out when I got serious with God. I wanted to meet a new man who was already completely devoted to Christ and who would sweep me off of my feet! I wanted something new and fresh! I love my husband so very much, but our relationship was hard work! Me staying with Toby was my obedience to God.

And that's the thing: I was obedient to God. Your obedience may look completely different. You have to ask God what He wants you to do. My case was an exception, not the rule. Many times, God wants us to break up with that guy because he is not bringing you closer to Christ. Many times, you know that too. If your guy is leading you away from Christ, I'm pretty sure he's not the one, sis!

I recognize that I got a lot of followers on here and social media due to our story. I get it. You don't hear many stories like ours. You wanted to see how our story continued to unfold. I he it. But please please PLEASE don't use our story as the standard. Let Christ be your standard. Ask Him what you should do. Definitely keep the emails, comments, etc. coming, but let God be your ultimate authority. I can't tell you what God wants you to do, but He definitely can and will!
