Day 6 - Enjoy the Benefits
Ya'll, I am thinking the evenings just may be my optimum time to post here (and can I let you in on a secret? About 90% of my posts are written at night...life of a night owl!).
Anyway, I was reading this article on how to embrace the season you're in and the author made a really good suggestion: to enjoy the benefits of the season you're in. Genius!
To be honest, although I am not 100% where I want to be, I must say that this season does have it's benefits. Although I don't know what tomorrow will bring, and I am currently a good mixture of afraid and excited for the future, I can definitely say that I feel the Lord is with me in this time in my life. So, I've decided to make a list of all the benefits, both big and small, I see in my current season so that on those days I start to complain and grow weary, I can remind myself of the Lord's hand.
Benefits
- Being that we aren't parents, Toby and I have so much freedom and flexibility to be spontaneous. We don't have to worry about a babysitter or coming home too late, or getting someone to bed. We can get up and go!
- I am not too busy to make all of the meals. Being that I love to cook, and I really try to watch what we eat, I love that I can show my love to Toby by giving him delicious and nutritious meals.
- Because we live in a one bedroom apartment, it takes me no time to clean our apartment and keep it clean. I can get 90% of the apartment vacuumed from one plug outlet! Yes, it's the little things.
- We still have a lot of friends that don't have children, so we still have so many people we can relate to and can double date with on a whim.
- I am a place where I am starting over in my career and I have the freedom to follow my passion! I know a lot of people who wish they could do this.
- God has truly provided for our every need.
- With the way my schedule is set up now, I have so much time to read and catch up on all of those books I've collected over the years, but hadn't gotten a chance to read.
- Toby and I have an excellent evening routine that I will cherish even after we have kids: he comes home from work and class, and I am usually putting the finishing touches on dinner. We talk about our day for a little bit, and then if he doesn't have much homework, we watch a few episodes of Friends. After that, he either does his homework or play his game for a bit while I read or color in my adult coloring book or get lost on Pinterest. Then we go to bed. It's not like this every single night, and it might sound boring, but I cherish the time we get to spend together alone.
- I am surrounded by such a good group of people. From my family, to friends, to church community, I am truly blessed!
- I see little confirmations that God truly cares about me and has my best interest at heart, and that my relationship with Him is growing
