2018 Goals Recap

Ya’ll (why do I feel like I begin just about every blog post with “ya’ll”?). We are days away from 2019.

DAYS!

While I honestly still can’t believe we are turning the page onto a new year, I am so happy this year is over! This has definitely been a stretching year for me. With that being said, I am SO excited for 2019! But before I shift my focus to the new year ahead, let’s have a recap of the goals I had set for 2018.

Goal 1: Thrive in my role as a stay-at-home-mama.

I want to find a way to stay at home with my baby boy, as well as generate an income on the side.

Outcome: Hmm, I would say I have completed 80% of this goal. While I continued to stay at home this year, and started generating money beginning in August, I definitely didn’t thrive. It was more like survival, which is something I hope to change in 2019. But I also didn’t put any way to measure my goal as thriving, which is also something I want to change for this next year. (Edited 1/22/19 to say that my mama read my blog and told me to tell ya’ll that I indeed thrived in my role as a mother in 2018, ha!)

Goal 2: Read and pray through the Bible.

Like Lara mentioned for her goals, I want to pray the Word of God while reading the Bible App's Chronological reading plan. I also want to get back into journaling my prayers.

Outcome: I was thiiiiiiis close! My expected completion date is January 18, 2019. And while the perfectionist in me wants to buckle down and power through to get this done in the next three days, I am going to walk the walk of done is better than perfect. I also didn’t journal except for maybe one or two months.

Goal 3: Simplify my home and life.

Continuing on my journey of minimalism through decluttering and contentment.

Outcome: I did pretty good on decluttering, but the contentment part? Not so much, if I am being honest. Again, there was nothing put in place to measure the success of this goal, but overall I would say I completed the goal physically even though my heart wasn’t in it.

Goal 4: Move toward financial freedom.

We took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University back in March 2016 and ever since then, it has been my goal to become debt free! This is most likely a 2018 and 2019 goal, but I want to shorten that timeline to financial freedom as much as possible!

Outcome: Not gonna lie: this didn’t happen. So many circumstances got in the way that I didn’t even attempt this goal. (Edited 1/22/19: again, my mama told me to tell ya’ll that starting my very own business IS moving toward financial freedom!)

Well, there ya have it! 2018 was definitely not my most shining year, but I survived it and am pretty excited for a new chapter! My next post will be my word for 2019 and why I chose it. It’s a good one, ya’ll.
