A Simplified Valentine’s Day with Littles

As I’ve said before: it’s always so fun to see the world through my boys’ eyes and to watch them experience holidays. I’m especially excited because now that Eli’s three, he gets really excited to participate in the things!

Since having kids, we honestly haven’t gone all out for Valentine’s Day, but one of my mini goals this year is to celebrate holidays, make it fun for the boys, and create lasting memories. Because we are still in the middle of a move (such a long story!), I want to calm the crazy I feel externally and internally, and simplify Valentine’s Day for our family.

So here are my plans to make this a simplified Valentine’s Day.

Decor

While the Pinterest fanatic in me wants to feel guilty that I’m not going all out, I’m definitely keeping it super simple by just decorating our dining room table (because that also honestly just about the only furniture out right now!). I may also let Eli make a heart garland to hang in there. Speaking of activities…

Activities

It’s supposed to rain in our area, so going outside is a “no” for us. I’ve also learned in the past that my big, lofty activity goals don’t really go the way I plan them with littles, so we are going to do just one activity - a cute scavenger hunt I found for free here - and call it a day. I am excited to hide the items on the list, and I honestly think Eli will have so much fun! I can’t wait to hear that adorable little giggle of his!

Gifts

For the boys, I plan on getting a cute basket, hitting up Targets Dollar Spot, and filling the baskets with sweet treats, a stuffed animal, and a book or two.

For Toby, I’m actually still working on this, ha! He’s apparently already gotten my gift, so I need to think fast! But I’m loving this 5 senses gift basket idea, so I may go with that.

Food

I’m just going to focus on breakfast and dinner to keep this a simple Valentine’s Day. For breakfast, I’ll jazz up our pancakes or waffles with whipped cream, strawberries, and sprinkles (because sprinkles makes everything fun!). I may also serve some pink milk for extra bonus points with Eli.

Dinner will be a pasta with bread and salad, and then a dessert if I’m up for going the extra mile.

Valentine’s Day may be one of the “smaller” holidays, but it can be a fun one nonetheless! I’m pretty excited about our low key, intentional, and simplified Valentine’s Day! I pray that this will definitely be a favorite memory of Valentine’s Day for years to come.

What are Your Plans for Valentine’s Day? Are you going all out or aRe you keepiNg it SiMple?
