Fruit Check Friday
Patience.
I loathe that word. I mean, who likes waiting? This little lady surely don't.
I remember when my baby brother was a toddler, I would always call him a spoiled brat because he would throw temper tantrums when he couldn't get his way. I'm talking crying, yelling, stomping his little feet...the nerve! And yet, how many times have I done that when God's told me to wait? How many times have I literally cried, yelled, and stomped my feet in frustration of not having what I want or think I need that instant?
How many times have you done it?
And like a good father, God doesn't always give us what we want, whether that's in our timing or at all. God knows what is best for us. For me. For you. He knows that we don't need most of the things we ask for, and He knows that we need to grow in order to be able to handle some if the things we ask for. I think that if God revealed to us some of the reasons why He didn't give us some of the things we asked for, we would be on our knees thanking Him for sparing us that trouble or heartache.
To be honest, patience is a lesson that I am learning to grow in daily. Every single day, I have to renew my mind and thinking and tell myself that God's timing is perfect, there is a season for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8), and to just wait on it (in my Drake voice...don't judge me; I've come a long way haha).
So, for the next two weeks, let's check our tree for our patience fruit. Maybe your tree looks like mine, where patience is budding all over and you're just waiting for that fruit to finally mature, ready to be picked. Maybe the seeds have just been planted. Maybe your tree hasn't been quenched by the living water (the Word) in a while, so your mature fruit is starting to die. However your tree is looking, make a commitment to you and God to take special care of your patience for the next fourteen days. I'm doing with you!
I don't know what you're patiently waiting for, sis: a man, marriage, financial freedom, just a change in your current situation. But be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). Rest in Him and wait patiently for Him (Psalm 37:7).
Love you, sis!
