Teach Us to Pray
Gosh, it's been 12 days since I've been on here! I apologize for the absence, but these few days have been... Let's just save that for another post.
To be honest, I was going to wait until Friday to return with Fruit Check Friday, but a sweet sister in Christ I follow on Instagram encouraged me through her challenge to write. So, here I am!
In my absence, I feel the Holy Spirit encouraging me to pray more. It's honestly not one of my strong points. I mean, I pray, but it can become a little selfish at times and causes me to amplify my problems. I really want to get in the the habit of praying as a first resort instead of a last resort, and to pray for others. I also want to be led by the Holy Spirit when I pray.
So, last week I caught up on Nicole's blog over at Bloom and remembered that she was reading an excellent book on prayer by Kay Arthur. I plan on getting that book soon. Then, one of my friends mentioned how she's following an old She Reads Truth plan, Prayer in the Bible, from the Bibe app.
I love this devotion! I am on Day 6, and I am truly learning so much about prayer. My prayer life is already changing!I decided to combine this devotional with a bible marking system that Kay Arthur uses, in which words, phrases, and ideas are color and symbol coded. At first I thought that was super extra, but it is so helpful! I'm the type of person who reads extremely fast; not a good thing when reading the Bible. The Bible is meant to be read slowly to take in the meanings and hidden revelations. It's meant to be broken down and dissected. I am learning that each word on the page has a specific purpose and was intentionally organized in such a manner by the Holy Spirit.
I encourage my Dear Sisters to really ask God to strengthen your prayer life and to see His Word in a fresh, new light. You wont regret it!
Love you, sis!
