Fruit Check Friday

Hello, my Dear Sisters! I hope all is going well in your world. As for me, I have truly been blessed by the Proverbs Challenge the women in my church and I are doing. I am so in love with this challenge! With that being said, I have been inspired to write about wisdom for this edition of Fruit Check Friday.

All throughout high school, I was known as one of the "smart girls": I made mostly A's (like I seriously almost had a conniption any time I got a B... on a progress report), I graduated with honors, and I excelled in just about anything that required thinking. In other words, I was smart.

Obviously, there are and were people way smarter than me: Albert Einsten, Socrates, King Solomon, etc. There are people walking this earth right now with mental capacities that could blow the average person away. Yet these people can have all the intellect in the world and still be considered complete fools in the eyes of God if they don't follow God's commands. Just read the first nine chapters of Proverbs and you'll see the consequences of the foolish person, the most harmful and inevitable: death.

But the rewards of wisdom? Again, read through Proverbs, but Chapter 3 lists them: long life, favor and a great reputation, guidance from the Lord, physical health, prosperity, and discipline. Who doesn't want that?

So how do we start seeing fruits of wisdom on our trees? First and foremost, seek it and ask God to grant you it. He is faithful to give wisdom to those who desire it (Proverbs 2: 4-5). Also, you should keep love, faithfulness, and God's commands in your heart (Proverbs 3: 1, 3), trust in the Lord with all of your heart (Proverbs 3: 5), fear God and keep away from evil (Proverbs 3: 7), honor God with your possessions (Proverbs 3: 9), and don't despise the Lord's discipline (Proverbs 3: 11). This is not an all inclusive list, so remember that wisdom comes from fearing God, which means to have a submissive and obedient spirit.

I love how the commentary in my Bible puts it:

"Fear of the Lord" is the foundation for wisdom, the prerequsite for obedience, and the accompaniment of love (Deut. 10:12). ~The Woman's Study Bible

Love you, sis!
