Our Engagement Story!
How do you start off a blog post when you’re THIS giddy and excited?! If you couldn’t tell by my last post:
I AM ENGAGED!
I have a fiancé! Ahhhhhhh! I have dreamt of this moment for all my life, and I can’t believe that
I am getting ready to marry my best friend
! Someone pinch me!
Okay, so I know you all are ready for me to share how it all went down. But let me back up a little bit to give you some background:
Toby and I have been talking about getting married for quite some time, especially when given a generous option concerning our actual wedding (more on that later). So between wedding talk and spending time with God, I pretty much was expecting a ring soon…. but more like early summer soon, ha. So when early and middle summer came and went without a ring, frustration set in.
I just want to marry the love of my life, Jesus!
However on Monday, during my quiet time, I repented to God for making engagement an idol this summer, and told Him I was tired of being on the lookout for a proposal. I didn’t want to expect anything anymore, so I told God I trusted Him and was gonna leave it in His hands, and I truly meant it.
A few hours later and into the rest of the week, Toby and my sister became quite strange and secretive. My mind immediately went to engagement, but I shut it down, and reminded myself all what I had told God.
Plus, I was tired of getting my hopes up and then being super disappointed (I promise I thought I was going to be proposed to at least five or six times!).
Saturday, our church had its first field day, which was so much fun! I’m talking about an egg race, a three-legged race, kickball, etc. My best friend, Kesi, even showed up! Day made! However, I didn’t eat all day and when you combine that with intense heat and strenuous activity, you’re bound to get quite lightheaded and dizzy. And that’s exactly what happened to me. So my sister, Courtney, encouraged me to take a walk into a nearby air conditioned building to cool off and go to the bathroom. Little did I know, everyone was getting in position for the proposal!
When we returned to the field, this is what happened (by the way, excuse the hotmessness; I was hot, sweaty, stinky, and lightheaded!) :
Gosh, every time I watch that video, because you KNOW I've watched it a thousand times, I cry! Toby is so sweet and God is so faithful!
I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!!
Love you, sis!
Tiffany
