31 Days of Embracing Where You Are
Ya’ll. IT’S OFFICIALLY FALL! If you couldn’t tell (haha),
this is definitely my favorite season ever. So bring on perfect weather,
leaves, scented candles, and pumpkin spiced EV-ERY-THING!
Before getting to my October goals in my PowerSheets, there
was a section on refreshment that allowed me to reflect on the previous three
months, as well as the three months ahead. As I thought about the three months
ahead and how we’ve just entered into the fall season, I just had this
overwhelming desire to just stop, slow down, and truly savor this season – both
literally and figuratively. I have such a bad habit of always rushing through
each season of my life, good and bad, to get to the next bigger and better
thing. I miss so many good lessons and experiences because I don’t take time to
truly be in the moment and listen to what exactly God is trying to teach me in
those moments. While there is nothing wrong with preparing and being prepared
for the future, I don’t want to live my life constantly worried about what’s
next and bouncing from moment to moment. Instead of rushing to have a sweet
baby in my arms, instead of rushing to get a house, instead of rushing to get
this career or this amount of money, I want to be fully present in the here and
now – the good, bad, and ugly. And I just love what Lara Casey said here:
"We were created for seasons, and they don’t last forever for a reason. Each season we go through is meant to prepare, teach, or ready us for what’s next if we embrace where we are. It’s hard when you’re in the thick of the wait, or tension, or transition, to see the good happening, though, isn’t it? But, remember this: after winter, always comes spring."
Today is the start of Write 31 Days, a challenge for
bloggers to write about one topic for 31 days. While there are so many topics I
wanted and could have chosen – topics that I have more “expertise” in – why not
bring you along on my journey in trying to embrace and lean in to the season I
am currently in? Right now I am in the thick of a season of waiting and
uncertainty. As scary as that sounds, I am excited because what unfolds from
here will truly be the work of the Lord. Whatever masterpiece appears on my
currently blank canvas will be one that I couldn’t have imagined for myself and
that gives me joy right now.
So, let’s do this 31 days thing! Feel free to join me and
share your hearts throughout these days; we can encourage one another!
